If you believed the Lifetime TV specials and the blogs on the internet, all holidays can be happy if you just "believe". If you just think positive you'll have sugar plums dancing in your head and chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Hot cocoa and warm fireplaces in every home as well as lights and laughter. But for many the holidays only magnify the loneliness and our losses.
Due to family estrangements, money problems or flares of chronic illness and disability that often occur during the winter, many emerging adults are filled with a cloud of discouragement and sadness. Join Emerging Adult Counseling for The Not So Happy Holidays Support Group. Let's meet up and make the holidays happier. If you are an Emerging Adult 18-30, who is experiencing Depression, Anxiety, or who has a disability or chronic illness, come join us as we explore how to make the holidays brighter! We'll have some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages and play some games to get to know each other and those who want to can share what is challenging for them this holiday season. This won't be a "pity party but just a time when you can be yourself, let down any facade of holiday cheer and support each other. We'll have some board games and music and snacks and just share what's going on for you. Sharing will be optional. If you prefer to just observe the support and support others that's fine too! When: Mondays November 28, December 3, 10, and 17; January 3 Fee $10.00 for the entire series
